Overwhelmed

It's done been too long.
Four frelling months.
And it's not like I've had nothing to write;
I simply allowed other things in my life to
overwhelm my maintenance of this site.
Not that I'm complaining, mind you: a lot has
happened but most of it has been good. Since
the last site update at the end of October,
I've written 70,000 words of a new novel,
had a great holiday break with half a dozen
of my closest friends, and found a charming
and beautiful new girlfriend I just can't
get enough of. On the downside I could have
done without the poison sumac, throat infection
and tendonitis in my hand, but you have to take
the good with the bad.
BUT all of that's no excuse for letting the site
go fallow for all this time --- especially since
I had two or three articles sitting in a 90%
completion state just waiting to be posted.
SO here's what I'm going to do:
- Get The Site Current
The biggest reason for the site backlog was
that the articles page was messed up. Stupid,
but true --- I had gotten in the habit of
posting articles directly to the front page
rather than spawning new articles in the
articles page, and as a result my anal
retentive (note: has no hyphen) scheme
for article ordering broke down. That
be fixed now, and I'm going to give
developing some site software to
organize that process another shot this year.
- Post the Article Backlog
Starting February 1st, the backlog of articles
I've already written hits the site (including
the prequel to this whine).
- Delude Myself About Keeping A Schedule
A minor update every two weeks, with a new
article or piece of artwork every month.
Period. Let's see how that works.
- Get The Projects Going
And finally, I threatened at earlier points
to actually start working on projects for
this website --- posting backlogs of old
stories, writing new material for the site,
plus a few secret projects. OK, now we're
going to give that a try --- first with a
few short stories to the site, then with
the secret projects.
Will it work? Eh, who knows. But I'm going to give it
a shot. And I hope you enjoy it. If you don't,
there are only another billion web pages out there,
so I'm sure you can find something to occupy your
online time.
