I had this thought after reading a long critical blogpost on a recent scifi novel:
The longer, more detailed, and, especially, the more clever you make your negative criticism of something, the more I suspect that you’re doing a hatchet job on a work that’s actually good, but simply something you don’t personally like … and that you’ve lost the ability to tell the difference.
