Well, the Nano climb is starting off great, for a switch! Fourth of July, and I’m already 800 words ahead of what my goal is for this time of the month.<\/p>\n

Not bad, but then, I am on vacation. \ud83d\ude42 An excerpt:<\/p>\n
On our way out, I sighs. \u201cThat went \u2026 well\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIt so very did not,\u201d Karoo says, bouncing from rock to rock.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhat?\u201d I says. \u201cWe learned a lot\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe learned nothing but that this so-called Huntswoman wants the Ere Mother dead\u2014or worse!\u201d Karoo snarls. \u201cYou<\/em> learned nothing from the Huntswoman about the Ere Mother herself that I could not have told you, had you only asked\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWas she wrong about the spell that\u2019s killing her?\u201d I asks, and Karoo says nothing. \u201cIf you knew that, why didn\u2019t you tell me?\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cYou didn\u2019t ask,\u201d Karoo says.<\/p>\n
\u201cWell, maybe I should change that,\u201d I says, \u201cstartin\u2019 now. But I<\/em> learned a lot\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cA faerie queen flattered you by putting you through paces that would not have fazed the most junior adept in medieval times, when training meant something,\u201d Karoo said. \u201cYou learned what you should have learned months or years ago in your training\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI have not been wand training for years,\u201d I says. \u201cGraffiti magic, three years, wand magic, more like one and a half. Actually, a bit closer to one\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSo you\u2019re hungry and she fed you,\u201d Karoo says huffily. \u201cOne way and one way alone this creature is like the Li\u2019\u00eda N\u00ed\u2019qua I remember. You heard her banish me from her court, me, her consort? I loved her once, with all my heart. Now I hate her with equal fervor\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t say that,\u201d I says. \u201cShe\u2019ll \u2026 she\u2019ll eventually remember you\u2014\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cLi\u2019\u00eda N\u00ed\u2019qua is dead,\u201d Karoo says. \u201cI never want to come back to this place again!\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
Ouch, Karoo, that’s harsh! Especially coming from a cute glowing anthropmorphic fox.<\/p>\n
